Open Spatial Data Portal

This Open Spatial Data Portal provides information and access to datasets collected to support various work programmes carried out under the remit of the OPW. These datasets are provided subject to users accepting the individual Terms and Conditions when accessing the data.


Open Spatial Data Catalogue

The Open Spatial Data Catalogue is a central repository providing information and access to the OPW’s Flood Risk Management and Coastal Change Datasets, collected to support various work programmes carried out under the remit of the OPW.

Cross-Sectional Survey Data Finder

Channel cross-sections of rivers and/or estuarine areas collected to support various work programmes carried out under the remit of the OPW.


Open Data Policy

The Office of Public Works is committed to providing data to the public in line with the requirements of the Open Data Directive (EU) 2019/1024, transposed into Irish law by SI 376/2021, and the High Value Data Regulation (EU) 2023/138.

We continually work to implement the principles of open by default and design into our processes.

Open Data Requests

If you would like to request a Flood Risk Management related dataset not currently available for direct access, please download and fill out the FRM Data Request Form v2.1 and email it to flood_data@opw.ie.

Note that specific cases exist where there are valid reasons for not releasing the data, which can be seen in the list of datasets on the Open Spatial Data Catalogue section of the site.

Data requests are ordinarily dealt with within 20 working days but an additional 20 working days may be required for extensive or complex requests.


Appeals

To appeal a refusal, in the first instance, please write to flood_data@opw.ie, clearly outlining the case reference number and the grounds of the appeal. The appeal will be forwarded to the relevant section within the OPW for a supplementary review. A decision to refuse the requested data may also be appealed to the Office of the Information Commissioner.
