Updates / November 25, 2022

This second Public Information Day is held to present the emerging options developed to date and to gather your opinions and concerns to inform the selection of a preferred scheme. All comments received during the Public Information Day on the 25th November and through the website will be used by the Project Team to continue to develop the scheme.

We want to consider all viewpoints in relation to the Scheme and this is your opportunity to take part. A questionnaire will be available for you on the day and if you cannot join us a copy of the questionnaire will be available on this website as well as supporting maps and information. Closing date for consultations and questionnaire submissions is 9th December 2022.

Surveys

Updates / June 29, 2022

The CCTV surveys are ongoing and awaited to be completed in short term. Input from Geotechnical Investigation (GI) Surveys will also be required at a later stage of the Project. GI Surveys are intrusive and required to help us understand the geology and groundwater of the Study Area.

Updates / September 2021

Binnies/NOD are currently scoping additional surveys such as environmental surveys, topographical surveys and site investigation works to ensure there is adequate data to develop the scheme design. Once scoping is complete, the appointment of specialist survey contractors will be made to complete the task.

Environmental Assessment

Updates / June 29, 2022

Detailed environmental and ecological surveys are scheduled, with focus on the ones with critical seasonality. Binnies/NOD will continue to focus on providing the relevant environmental information to support the optioneering of the scheme design. Landscape Architects have visited the site and undertaken the baseline survey with viewpoint locations identified.

Updates / September 2021

Work will continue on the scoping of environmental surveys, with a priority given to winter surveys. In parallel an environmental impact scoping assessment, environmental constraints survey and Invasive Species Management Plan will be progressed.

Coastal & River Modelling

Updates / June 29, 2022

Coastal & River Hydraulic Analysis is progressed with the production of updated flood maps for Dundalk, Blackrock and Ardee. Hydraulic modelling is ongoing with focus on the identification and development of the potential flood relief options.

Updates / September 2021

Existing models are currently being reviewed, assessed and checked against previous flood events to understand how the area reacts to weather events. We will use the information collected through the surveys and data collection to update the models and inform the schemes design.

Public Information Day

Updates / June 29, 2022

The first public consultation event was successfully undertaken despite the Covid-19 constraints.

Submissions indicate the requirement for a solution and the willingness of the members of the communities to get actively involved in the progress of the Scheme. Particularly detailed submissions have been received from a number of local residents. Follow on engagement with these residents will be of benefit as the project progresses.

A second Public Information Day will be held once an emerging preferred scheme has been identified. The specifics for this Public Information Day will be advised in due course.

Updates / September 2021

A first, opening Public Information Day shall be held where it is proposed to consult on the emerging scheme options. A second Public Information Day will be held once a preferred scheme has been identified and agreed with the steering group.

Please note: Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions, measures are currently being assessed as to the options for Public Engagement, with the possibility of these events being held virtually, online to counter the effect of travel restrictions and group number limits. Please review this page regularly for current updates.
