Preparation of Flood Risk Management Plans

Flood Risk Management Plans were prepared to identify feasible structural and non-structural measures to effectively manage the assessed risk in each of the areas and their river catchments.

In areas assessed as being at potentially significant risk, the CFRAM Programme assessed possible measures to protect the communities against flood risk.

Where flood protection measures do not already exist or are not already in design, planning or construction, the OPW looked at all types of flood risk management measures, including non-structural measures to determine the proposed measure for managing the risk. The OPW has considered the options for AFAs that will deliver optimum results taking into consideration multiple factors including, value for money, cost, benefits and environmental factors.
