December 2021 Update : Surveys Ongoing

Limerick City & County Council has recently appointed Murphy Geospatial to undertake level surveys of the embankments, river channels, structures (bridges, culverts, weirs etc.) and building floor levels in and around the City & Environs.  Surveyors will be operating within the Scheme area in both Limerick City and County Clare over the coming months.  This survey information will be used to inform the geotechnical assessment of the existing embankments and the development of the hydraulic models. Surveys will be undertaken at intervals along all river channels within the Scheme area.

A Bathymetric Survey is also currently being undertaken for the project by Hydrographic Surveys Ltd.  This survey will record river bed levels in the estuary upstream of Shannon Airport and will be used for hydraulic model development.

A geotechnical site investigation contract is currently being procured and it is expected that, subject to consents, this investigation contract will commence in early 2022.
