Approval of Part 8 Planning Permission for Tir Cluain Flood Defence Scheme

Cork County Council is pleased to announce that Part 8 Permission has been approved for the Tir Cluain Flood Defence Scheme.  Following public consultation, the proposed scheme went before Full Council on 26th January 2026, and the Members voted to approve the development. 

The scheme comprises of three key infrastructure elements:

• Flood defence embankment,
• Surface water drainage network, and
• Landscaping.

Once completed, the scheme will protect up to 135 properties in Tir Cluain to the design standard of protection.
