Public and Stakeholder Engagement
Limerick City & County Council will engage with public on the proposed Flood Relief Scheme to ensure adequate opportunity for public participation.
The Opening Public Consultation event was held on the 18th of November 2021 until the 17th of December 2021. The purpose of the event was to to identify key issues and highlight points of local importance which will help inform the design of potential flood alleviation measures.
Later in Stage 1 a second public consultation event will be held to gather views on the developed Scheme options. The comments and queries raised at the public consultation date will be considered in the finalisation of the Scheme design and the preparation of the EIAR.
Collaborative Workshops will be undertaken with representatives from a number of stakeholder bodies. The purpose of these Workshops will be to establish goals and objectives from each relevant section within both Limerick City & County Council and Clare County Council responsible for key issues such as planning, enhancement of public realm, heritage, recreation, biodiversity, etc. This collaborative approach to public sector works will inform design features and bring added value to the project resulting in a more locally valuable and acceptable scheme.
