Public and Stakeholder Engagement
During the development of Coirib go Cósta scheme Galway City Council will strive to ensure on-going engagement and consultation with the public and other stakeholders.
Stakeholders and interest groups associated with Coirib go Cósta comprises a range of organisations and individuals. Each of these stakeholders’ needs can differ with unique perspectives of how the scheme may positively or negatively impact their interests. Early identification and engagement in a collaborative and co-operative manner will be critical to the success of the scheme. A four-stage approach for stakeholder management and engagement is summarised in the figure below.
The Communication Roadmap, see below, graphically presents the key communication activities and deliverables identified to date for the scheme and will be updated as required throughout the subsequent stages of the scheme.
In order to involve stakeholder’s opinion on the project, three public engagement days will be held during Stage 1 of Coirib go Cósta.
The purpose of the first public engagement day is to gather valuable information from the public regarding previous flooding, impacts flooding had on public's properties, understand the public's concerns and aspirations for the scheme and to present the constraints and opportunities that the scheme for the scheme.
The purpose of the second public engagement day will be to present the draft options when developed and to gain feedback from the public to be incorporated into the finalisation of options.
The purpose of the third public engagement day is to present the preferred Scheme to close out the stakeholder participation events for Stage I of the Project.
