A key objective of the Rosslare Coastal Erosion and Flood Relief Scheme is to implement a project that is environmentally acceptable and, where possible, provides environmental benefits. The scheme area is surrounded by European designated habitats (SACs and SPAs) which must be protected. The project team will be balancing the environmental needs with the social and other aspects when designing the scheme.

No, this will be a key consideration in our design. We will consider the impacts on Rosslare Strand as a whole, rather than focusing on the places that have flooded, to ensure that any works completed as part of this a scheme do not increase the flood risk to surrounding lands.
