Frequently Asked Questions

The funding of this scheme has not been finalised yet as this will depend on a suitable option being identified.

The scheme will reduce the rate of erosion along Rosslare Strand and improve the standard of flood protection for risk areas to protect against the 0.5% Annual Exceedance Probability (1 in 200 year) Tidal flood event.

This project is programmed to be completed in 2027/28.

A key objective of the Rosslare Coastal Erosion and Flood Relief Scheme is to implement a project that is environmentally acceptable and, where possible, provides environmental benefits. The NOD Environmental team will deal with all relevant environmental issues. Further details in relation to the Environmental Impacts will be updated on this website as the scheme progresses

We will be keeping this website updated with the latest news and details of forthcoming public consultation events.  You can also use the ‘Contact Us’ page to ask a question, provide feedback, or register to be emailed with project updates.

Incorporation of any proposed works into Public Realm will be considered during all phases of the project.

No, this will be a key consideration in our design. We will consider the impacts on Rosslare Strand as a whole, rather than focusing on the places that have flooded, to ensure that any works completed as part of this a scheme do not increase the flood risk to surrounding lands.

You can look at the flood maps on the OPW’s floodinfo.ie website to see the flood extents for Rosslare and other towns within the CFRAM study area here. The areas by coastal erosion and flooding can be seen here
