February 2021 Flood Event

A status Orange Rainfall Event took place in Cork, starting on the night of the 22nd of February. Initial observations indicate that this corresponded to approximately a 1 in 20 year flood event. We were very happy to see that the new flood defences in Douglas worked as expected and carried a huge volume of water through the village safely.

From observations and experience on site it is believed that had the defences not been constructed, there would have been considerable flooding in the Ravensdale and Church Road area.
