A: This scheme is part of the €1bn National Fund announced by the Government as part of Project Ireland 2040 for flood relief schemes throughout the Country in May 2018. The OPW is providing the funding to Tipperary County Council as the Client to deliver the Ballina Flood Relief Scheme. 

A: You can see the programme for the project on the Timeframe page of the website.  With complex scheme like this the timeline is a best estimate at the time of writing. The timeline will be updated as the scheme progress.

A: The scheme will improve the standard of flood protection for Ballina to 1% Annual Exceedance Probability (1 in 100-year return period event)

A: No, this will be a key consideration in scheme design.
