Flood Map Review Programme

Programme Overview

The OPW’s Predictive Flood Maps produced under the National Catchment-based Flood Risk Assessment and Management (CFRAM) Programme and as part of Flood Relief Schemes were developed from detailed engineering analysis and modelling. Updates and revisions to these Flood Maps may occasionally be required due to a change in physical conditions, detection of errors or based on other specific evidence.

The Flood Map Review Process

A Flood Map Review is a two-stage process with the first stage representing a screening exercise. Where there is sufficient evidence provided that a published Flood Map does not reflect the current conditions, the OPW will proceed to a detailed re-assessment of the area in question.

For full details of the Flood Map Review Programme, see the Flood Map Review Programme - Guidance Note .

Request a New Flood Map Review

If you would like to request a new Flood Map Review, please submit a completed Flood Map Review Request Form to floodinfo@opw.ie.

Submit Map Consultation Feedback

Any revised draft Flood Maps will be published below for public consultation for a period of 30 days.

Please submit any feedback referencing the specific Map Review together with detailed comments of the observations to floodinfo@opw.ie within the specified consultation period.

Flood Relief Schemes

The Office of Public Works (OPW) is responsible for leading and co-ordinating the implementation of localised flood relief schemes to provide flood protection for cities, towns and villages, either directly or in association with relevant Local Authorities.

Where Flood Relief Schemes have been completed, updated Flood Maps will be provided. These Flood Maps are consulted separately during the relevant Flood Relief Scheme project stages. For information in relation to ongoing, completed and future Flood Relief Schemes and project website links, see the Flood Relief Scheme Information Page.

Review Exemptions

The Flood Map Review Programme only covers:

  • The OPW’s community based, predictive Flood Maps produced under the National CFRAM Programme; and
  • Predictive Flood Maps produced as part of Flood Relief Schemes

The programme does not cover indicative, national flood hazard maps such as the National Indicative Fluvial Maps or the National Coastal Flood Hazard Maps.

The Flood Map Review Programme will not produce Flood Maps to carry out site specific Flood Risk Assessments. The purpose of the Flood Maps is not to designate individual properties at risk of flooding. They are community-based maps.
