Project Timeframe
Stage 1 – Options Assessment, Scheme Development and Preliminary Design
- Gather data, identify and procure surveys required to fill information gaps
- Environmental screening and surveys to meet statutory requirements
- Hydrological and hydraulic analysis for the existing fluvial and tidal systems and calibrate them with latest data
- Assess options and develop an affordable cost beneficial scheme
- Progress design of preferred scheme option
- Public, landowner and stakeholder engagement
Stage 2 – Planning/Development Consent Process
- Coordination of consultation with statutory bodies and Planning Authority (Wexford County Council/ABP)/Dept
- Preparation and coordination of application documentation including:

Planning /Foreshore Application Forms and Public Notices

Comprehensive Planning Report for planning consent and Foreshore Report for Foreshore Licence application, if required

Identification and preparation of robust and scientifically sound supporting documentation (e.g., AA and EIA, Screenings NIS, EIAR, MMRA)

Preparation of CPO documentation and liaison with land owners

- Submission of planning application and CPO documentation to Competent Authorities
Stage 3 – Detailed Construction Design and Tender
- Produce a developed buildability report and a developed operation/maintenance report
- Complete ground investigation and utilities surveys to support design completion
- Update environmental impact assessment
- Undertake the detailed engineering design for the works
- Prepare the construction environmental management plan
- Prepare and advertise the tender documents and requirements for contractors returns
- Construction contractual and commercial management
Stages 4 – Construction
- Scheme Construction works will commence on site and be managed by the Project Team and Steering Group. The aim of stage 4 is to manage the construction process, ensuring the community and stakeholders continue to enjoy suitable levels of engagement and to minimise disruption. To that end we will continue to update the website and provide newsletters as required.
Stages 5 – Handover of works
- Construction Complete
- Operation & Maintenance Training for WCC staff
- Safety file
- Compile the list of snags and defects and notify the contractor of repair works required
- WCC take charge of works
