Douglas FRS Planning Application

 

Cork County Council is pleased to announce that we submitted an application to seek approval from An Bord Pleanála for the proposed Douglas Flood Relief Scheme (including Togher Culvert).

The proposed scheme consists of flood relief works along and/or adjacent to and/or in the vicinity of the following watercourses:

  1. The Ballybrack Stream (Douglas River) over a combined length of approximately 620m from the Ballybrack Woods (Mangala) to immediately upstream of Church Street, Douglas
  2. The Grange Stream in Donnybrook over a length of approximately 480m.
  3. The Tramore River in Togher over a length of approximately 810m.
  4. The Tramore River at St. Patrick’s Mills, Douglas over a length of approximately 80m.

The proposed works consists of flood defence walls and embankments, new culverts, replacement, widening and extension of existing culverts, channel widening, deepening, realignment and regrading, channel maintenance, bank stabilisation, removal of existing trash screens and construction of new trash screens, bridge removal, bridge replacement, road regrading, underground pumping stations, service diversions, relocation of two no. ESB substations/kiosks, tree felling, tree planting and landscaping, and all associated and ancillary works.

The documents are available for viewing from the 18th May 2017 at County Hall, Douglas Library, the offices of An Bord Pleanála and will also be available for download on this page from the 18th May 2017

Submissions or observations may be made only to An Bord Pleanála (‘the Board’) 64 Marlborough Street, Dublin 1 relating to-

  1. The Ballybrack Stream (Douglas River) over a combined length of approximately 620m from the Ballybrack Woods (Mangala) to immediately upstream of Church Street, Douglas.
  2. the likely effects on the environment of the proposed development, if carried out.

Any submissions/observations must be received by the Board not later than 5.30 p.m. on the 29th June 2017.

Cork County Council is the lead authority for the scheme for the purposes of Section 85 of the Local Government Act, 2001.
